About Hanady Younes

Hanady Iskandar Younes, a Lebanese writer and a sworn translator, born in 17 October 1979 in Chouf area – Mount Lebanon. She was always driven by metaphors and abstractive images to express inner thoughts, perspectives, and all kind of feelings. Her writings in prose often describe ideas emerging from introspection, whether personal or general. She studied translation and got her BA from Notre Dame University in 2002; not resting on her laurels, she continued her master’s degree in media studies – Journalism in 2005; while she accomplished another masters in American studies in Turin – Italy. Juggling with French, English, Arabic, and Italian languages, she started writing in Voltaire’s language but end up “trying” to express herself in Shakespeare’s and Gertrude Stein’s mother tongue…. Her work as a translator and a language assistant for the United Nations opened large horizons for her imagination and opportunities. She has also translated several journalistic articles for known writers, for Dar Manhal Al Hayat Publishers, H & C Leo Burnett, as well as the book “La Television quel enfer!” of late journalist Jean-Claude Boulos. She started timidly to write her thoughts throughout the past 14 years and collected enough “inner notes” to publish her debut book.
